Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to controversial Manchester United goal vs Wolves

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Mike Dean might the right call in not giving Wolves a foul in the build-up to Manchester United's winning goal at Molineux.

The home team were furious that Paul Pogba wasn't penalised for catching Ruben Neves as he did to try and retain possession after a poor touch.

United were on the receiving end of a similarly tight call last week, when Bruno Fernandes felt he was fouled in the build-up to Southampton's goal.

The failure to give a free-kick to Wolves saw Neves run over to the fourth official to show the stud marks on his leg, but the VAR didn't overturn the decision and Solskjaer felt the right decision was made.

"Last week I was moaning because I thought Bruno should have had a foul," he said.

"You ask your opinion, you give it and every manager will say it is wrong when it goes against you. We were told that decision was correct, keep the game running. Today I am not going to argue. I think it is a fair challenge and the ball ends up with Mason and a great shot so well done Mason for getting a shot on target."

Wolves boss Bruno Lage said his side should have had a free-kick and accused United of not playing fair by kicking the ball out while Neves was down and needing treatment.

“I didn’t talk with him [Neves], I see his leg, for me it’s clear, but also important to think about it," said Lage.

"It happened with us in the same situation in the first half, Bruno was down and Pogba asked Nelson Semedo to pull the ball out and Nelson did. In the first half they were similar, Ruben was down and they shot on goal. In the same situation, we have a different way to see things and we put the ball out."
