Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rates Alex Telles' Man Utd debut after Champions League win

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised Alex Telles after the defender made his debut for the club during last night's Champions League victory at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Red Devils won the match 2-1 with Marcus Rashford 's winner three minutes from time securing maximum points, after Anthony Martial's own goal cancelled out Bruno Fernandes ' early penalty.

Telles started the match at left wing back before being substituted with 22 minutes remaining as United switched to a 4-3-3.

His performance impressed Solskjaer, who believes the 27-year-old has plenty to bring to the table at Old Trafford.

"You can see Alex on his debut, what he’s going to give us. His delivery was great," he said.

The Brazilian-born defender offered an attacking option down the left flank, with a number of pinpoint crosses threatening to cause trouble throughout the match.

"I think we’ve shown today that we have a squad that can play different ways and in different systems," Solskjaer continued.

"Alex played very well on his debut, we know his delivery is fantastic.

"We’ve got players back home in Harry Maguire, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood and Eric Bailly so I’m looking forward to the next few weeks and months."

Telles joined the club earlier this month from Porto for a fee of around £13.5 million.

He was an important player for his former side during last season's title-winning campaign, only missing three league matches due to suspension.

The defender amassed 19 goal contributions, including eleven goals and eight assists, as Porto clinched the Primeira Liga trophy by five points.

Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend as they welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford on Saturday, before taking on Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in their second Champions League match next Wednesday.
