Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides injury update on Manchester United youngster

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an injury update on youngster Anthony Elanga.

The young Swedish forward was highly impressive for United after making his first-team debut at the back end of last season, scoring in the final Premier League game of the season against Wolves with a bullet header.

He then returned to the club for pre-season after a short holiday and was excellent in the friendlies against Derby County, Queens Park Rangers and Brentford, scoring in two of those games with well taken finishes.

Elanga then missed the training camp in Surrey and friendly against Everton, before being left out of the squad to face Leeds in the opening fixture of the Premier League this season which United won 5-1.

It's been revealed that the 19-year-old is suffering with an injury and while the full extent of the problem isn't known, manager Solskjaer has provided an update on his condition.

"He's [Elanga] not fully fit yet. He's doing his rehab but he's working hard on the grass. At least he's out from the gym and outside in the lovely Manchester weather!" he told the club's official website.

Elanga had been tipped for a loan move away from the club but his performances during the summer had forced Solskjaer to reconsider, with the boss admitting that he could stay in and around the first-team. Injury has prevented him from capitalising on that momentum but with deadline day just ten days away he seems more likely to stay put now.
