Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes Amad Diallo will obtain a work permit and link-up with his new Manchester United teammates in January.
United signed the 18-year-old prospect in October for an initial fee of £19million, which could rise to £37million with add-ons, and he is set to complete the move from Atalanta next month.
Diallo grabbed the Red Devils' attention last season as he scored on his Serie A debut and went on to make a further two appearances in the Italian top flight.
The right-winger came off the bench for his first Champions League appearance on Tuesday and Solskjaer is looking forward to his expected arrival at Old Trafford in only a few weeks' time.

The United boss said: "Amad has come on a few times for Atalanta lately, he is a very exciting young boy and talent and hopefully we'll get the work permit and he'll be with us in January. A very, very exciting boy as well."
Solskjaer also praised Facundo Pellistri's development after the winger's £9million move from Uruguayan side Penarol on a five-year deal.

Pellistri, 18, was signed on the same day as Diallo but immediately joined United, where he has been playing for the reserves.
Solskaer added: "Facundo has come in, trained with the first-team, done well, we felt now is time for him to get game time, and he's played a couple of games in the reserves and is gradually settled in nicely and getting more used to us."
Diallo's expected arrival and Pellistri's development with the Under-21s and Under-23s will bolster Solskjaer's options in attack in the second half of the season.
The duo may provide cover and competition for the likes of Anthony Martial, who has endured a challenging start to the campaign.
