Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pinpoints key behind Manchester United revival

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United's recent revival is mainly down to their improved fitness since the international break.

United endured a difficult start to the new Premier League season which saw them beaten by Crystal Palace on the opening day and thrashed by Tottenham Hotspur in their third match of the league campaign.

Solskjaer's position as United manager even came under fire after such a disappointing start to the season, but recent performances have seen a dramatic turnaround in mood at Old Trafford.

United are unbeaten in their four matches since the October international break in a run which has seen them deservedly triumph over both Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

Those two wins in particularly have boosted the confidence ahead of a packed fixture schedule and Solskjaer believes the turnaround is mainly down to improved squad fitness in recent weeks.

“The truth is that we were not in shape before the international break. Now we are fit and we are sharp and it has only gotten better and better,” Solskjaer told TV2.

“We are always working to be stable, and I think we have been stable ever since February. We’ve lost one of the last eight, which I think is pretty consistent.”

“Our squad is good and it gives us many opportunities. We can play in different formations, but the key is how we execute it. I am very happy at the moment.”
