Ole Gunnar Solskjaer outlines Diogo Dalot's Man Utd future after Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Diogo Dalot still has a future at Old Trafford, despite the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka earlier this summer.

It had been thought the Portuguese full-back, who only joined the Premier League club last summer, would be on his way out after United completed a deal worth an initial £45m to sign the young Englishman from Crystal Palace .

Dalot made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils last term, but the signing of Wan-Bissaka sparked speculation the 20-year-old would be leaving imminently

Solskjaer, though, was quick to allay any fears Dalot had and insisted the young Portuguese defender still had a big part to play for United going forward.

"We're trying to build a squad that can have a long life and with Diogo and Aaron we have got two right-backs that will be very good players," said the Norwegian.

"Diogo can play right wing and has probably gone from right-back to being able to play right wing.

"Aaron has been a right wing that can play right-back.

"They can give us good options on the right and Ashley Young can play both sides.

"Ashley played in the World Cup last summer for England at left-back and he can push Luke Shaw and Aaron and Diogo, no bother."

Those words will come as a relief to Dalot, who was signed by former boss Jose Mourinho from Porto for £19m last year.

The Portuguese defender had been linked with a move back to his home country in recent months, but looks set to stay with United.

Following Wan-Bissaka's arrival, the 20-year-old took to Instagram and posted: "Nothing but hard work, waiting for the new season to kick off."

That drew praise from several United fans online, with many commending Dalot for his positive attitude.
