It's claimed Solskjaer was called out by Eric Bailly after he restored Harry Maguire to the starting side at the King Power Stadium.
Maguire had been sidelined with a calf injury and took part in just one full training session before facing his former club. He looked well off the pace and was culpable for two of Leicester's goals.
And that led to fellow defender Baiily allegedly asking his manager why he picked "a centre-half who was not fit."
The Ivory Coast international is yet to make a Premier League appearance this season.
Other reports have stated some senior players are puzzled by Solskjaer continually overlooking Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard in his team selections.
United's hierarchy held talks on Monday as they consider the manager's future.
