Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is delighted to have finally been able to bring Jadon Sancho to Manchester United as a lengthy transfer saga comes to an end.
United identified Sancho, 21, as their priority target a year ago but cooled their interest amid concerns about the costs of a £108m price-tag they were quoted, as well as hefty personal fees.
Solskjaer kept tabs on Sancho throughout last season and reignited interest in the England international ahead of the summer window, eventually agreeing on a £72.9m package for his signature.
Sancho has signed an initial five-year deal at Old Trafford after he was officially unveiled on Friday lunchtime and new manager Solskjaer can't wait to unleash the right winger in front of United supporters.
“Jadon epitomises the type of player I want to bring to the club, he is a forward player in the best traditions of Manchester United," he told official club media." He will form an integral part of my squad for years to come and we look forward to seeing him blossom.
"His goals and assist records speak for themselves and he will also bring tremendous pace, flair and creativity to the team.
"Old Trafford will give him the platform he needs to release his untapped talent and perform at the highest level. For any player of his age, Jadon has already achieved a great deal and showed the courage to go and prove himself abroad.
