Ole Gunnar Solskjaer names the two stars Man Utd can't afford to sell this summer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted Manchester United cannot afford to lose Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford this summer.

United’s club record £89million signing Pogba has talked up a potential move to Real Madrid , while Rashford has attracted interest from Barcelona .

United chiefs remain confident Rashford, out of contract at the end of next season, will agree a new deal, despite his representatives having been in talks with United since last autumn.

Pogba has flourished under newly-appointed permanent United boss Solskjaer, but the World Cup winner continues to fuel speculation over a summer switch.

Solskjaer knows keeping both players is vital to his chances of making United a success again and is determined both will stay put this summer so he can build his team around them.

Asked if Pogba and Rashford can achieve everything they want to at United, Solskjaer said: “I would believe so.

“That’s our aim as a club - to be achieving what we have done in the past and that’s the expectation here.

“And, of course, we’re hoping to build a team strong enough and worthy of the history of the club.

“You’ve got loads of players who you can build a team around and those [Pogba and Rashford] are the two that you asked me about. They’re vital for our future.”

Rashford’s representatives are in talks with United over a contract extension that will double his basic wage to £150,000-a-week, rising to £200,000-a-week with add-ons.

Pogba has two years left on the deal he signed when he returned to United from Juventus in 2016, but talks have yet to open between him and the club over an extension.
