Ole Gunnar Solskjaer names Man Utd youngster who will 'definitely' play more next season

Mason Greenwood will be given the chance to break into the Manchester United first-team next season, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Greenwood, a product of United's Academy, made his full debut in the final game of last season, a dismal 2-0 home defeat to already relegated Cardiff .

The 17-year-old Bradford-born forward was United's best player in an otherwise abject display from the team, with Solskjaer expecting big things from him next season.

"Mason will definitely play more games," said Solskjaer.

"He's grown over the summer. I think his confidence has grown a lot after that Cardiff game, because he was our best player in that game."

United striker Marcus Rashford is also expecting Greenwood to make the step up next season and said: "He'll definitely get more game-time and everyone is enjoying watching him develop and grow.

"That step up from academy football to men's football can be difficult, but he had a good game against Cardiff on the last day of the season and that's put him in good stead for the position he's in now."

Meanwhile, Solskjaer has told Paul Pogba and any other wantaway players that Manchester United will not be pressured into selling.

After such a dreadful end to the season, the summer break has been played out to a background of fan disillusionment and questions over the future of the club's biggest names.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addresses the media (Paul Kane)

"For me, it's business as usual. When you're Man United, you expect all these things to pop up in the summer.

"And of course I've been in touch with Paul, spoken to Paul. Spoken to Rom, spoken to Rashy [Marcus Rashford], Jesse (Lingard) - I've spoken to all the players, more or less, over the summer. As you do, you keep in touch with them.

"As far as I am aware and up to now, we don't have any bids for any of our players.

"We are Man United - we don't have to sell players. But what I have to say, though, is about some of the players."
