Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: Man Utd win 'just like the old days' at Old Trafford

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims Manchester United's latest win was a throwback to Sir Alex Ferguson’s era after the Red Devils came from behind to beat Southampton at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer took his record to 12 wins in 15 games as interim manager and remains undefeated domestically, with PSG the only team to beat his resurgent side.

Yan Valery put Southampton in front in the first half with a stunning strike, though goals from Andreas Pereira and Romelu Lukaku saw United take a 2-1 lead after the break.

James Ward-Prowse's stunning free-kick made it 2-2 with 15 minutes to go, though Lukaku struck again late on to seal a vital three points which took United fourth in the Premier League table.

“The manner of it is like the old days,” said Solskjaer. “I have been part of it so many times myself.

“I’m so pleased for the boys. They managed to claw three points out of this game.

“We spoke at half time - get more urgency, get the ball in the box and the strength of the fans will suck the ball in.

“I don’t want to take too much from Andreas and Romelu as they were great finishes, but that is part of the history of this club.

“You forget you are tired. You just run and you want that ball delivered around the box. We have done it so many times.”
