Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes promise to Manchester United players ahead of pre-season tour

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised "most" of Manchester United players will get a chance to impress on the upcoming pre-season tour of Australia, Singapore and China.

The Reds are due to fly out on Sunday, with their opening pre-season match against Perth Glory on July 13th, with Solskjaer ready to spread the game-time evenly throughout his squad.

He referred to his own experience playing under United legend Sir Alex Ferguson when explaining how pre-season can provide opportunities to players to lay down a marker ahead of the season.

"Yeah, there is going to be a chance for everyone," he told United's official website , when asked whether players will start with a clean slate this pre-season.

"They are all going to be a part of this. Well, most of them anyway.

"I always felt the first couple of weeks (of pre-season) was a big chance for me to impress the gaffer and to show him that I am ready for the season."

After youth team players Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong, Dylan Levitt, James Garner, Ethan Hamilton, Angel Gomes and Matej Kovar were pictured training with the first team, Solskjaer added that several youngsters have impressed aready.

"Yeah, they’re fit and young and healthy," he added.

"They have impressed, to be fair, and you can see some of them have been training over the summer, because they are not going to feel that burnout.

"And the intensity of this training is a bit harder for them, so they’ve prepared well and held their own, to be fair.”

Many of the youngsters will be among the players to be given the chance to impress in pre-season.

After Perth Glory, United face Leeds United in Perth before flying to Singapore to take on Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup, a competition which also sees them play Tottenham in Shanghai.

United then head back to Europe to take on Kristiansund in Solskjaer's homeland Norway and finally AC Milan in Cardiff before their Premier League campaign opens at Old Trafford against Chelsea on August 11th.
