Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes Manchester United contract admission

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he has not discussed signing a new contract with Manchester United, despite entering the final 18 months of his current deal.

Solskjaer signed a three-year contract in March 2019 after taking over from Jose Mourinho in an interim role in December 2018 and impressing by winning 14 of his 19 matches.

That deal is set to expire in the summer of 2022, but with United out of the Champions League and seven points off Premier League leaders Manchester City, the club hierarchy are yet to begin talks over a new contract.

“I have not thought about that, and we have not discussed it at all,” Solskjaer told Norwegian outlet VG .

“I am just focusing on doing my job and part of the job is to stabilise things.

“We have a job to do in order to find consistency on the pitch. Outside the pitch it is still a crisis if you lose a game.

“If you concede a goal in stoppage time against Everton, it still creates big headlines. That can happen in football.

“But on the inside it is more stable. We feel like we are on our way towards what we sat down and discussed, what we planned.

“I know that there has been a lot of criticism and discussions about one thing or another, but if you first set a course, then I at least have so much faith in myself that I do not waver too much.”

Solskjaer has won 71 of his 127 matches in charge of United, with 27 draws and 29 defeats giving him a win percentage of 55.91%.

That record is better than both Louis van Gaal’s 52.43% and David Moyes’ 52.94%, but slightly worse than Mourinho’s 58.33%, while Sir Alex Ferguson finished his 27-year reign with a 59.67% win percentage.

Solskjaer is focusing on United’s Europa League round-of-32 tie against Real Sociedad in Turin on Thursday before facing Newcastle United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.
