Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes Liverpool and Manchester United comparison ahead of Anfield clash

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Liverpool might be getting too much praise for their FA Cup victory over Everton last weekend, claiming that his first-choice side are more youthful.

Solskjaer pointed out that his United team are also inexperienced, with their inconsistencies this season perhaps explained by that.

The Norwegian said: "Everyone raves about the FA Cup team that Liverpool beat Everton with. Our league team is a year younger on average."

The United boss was speaking ahead of his team's visit to Merseyside next Sunday.

By the time that game kicks off, they will have faced Wolves in their FA Cup third round replay.

The Manchester United boss later added: "We're fifth, not too far behind fourth place.

"We need to keep things in perspective, know where we've come from.

"We've had to start a big, big rebuilding job."

Liverpool face Manchester United next weekend at Anfield.

A win for the Reds will place them 30 points ahead of Solskjaer's men, having played a game fewer, and with almost half the campaign still to be played.
