Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes Cristiano Ronaldo transfer admission after Man Utd ‘offer'

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he “would take” Cristiano Ronaldo in his side as questions mount over his Juventus future.

The Serie A giants were eliminated from the Champions League against Porto last week raising fresh questions over Ronaldo’s future.

The 36-year-old is on big-money and the Turin-based club are considering trying to move him on in the summer due to their current financial position, according to reports in Italy.

It was claimed last week that Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, offered Ronaldo back to Manchester United last summer and urged them to make an offer for his client.

An approach never materialised, but Solskjaer has now named the Portuguese superstar as one of two United legends he would choose to add to his current squad.

Asked the question in a Q&A on the United website, Solskjaer replied: “There’s a few players I’ve played with that I’d love to have in my team, of course.

“I’d love the player Roy Keane, I’m not sure if I could manage him though. I’d sign him every day of the week, Roy was so influential but then again, I played with Cristiano [Ronaldo] and he’s been the best player in the world alongside Messi for the past 10-15 years now, so Cristiano.

“You’d take him in your team, for sure.”

Despite some excitement over a potential return to Old Trafford, Spanish outlet AS report Ronaldo wants a return to Real Madrid.

Reports have suggested that Juventus could accept as little as £25m for a player who cost them £88m back in 2018 in order to recoup some of their outlay.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane did little to quash rumours of a return when quizzed about Ronaldo.

"You know what Cristiano Ronaldo means for Real Madrid," he said.

"You know the affection we have for him at Real Madrid. What he did here was magnificent.

"Right now he's a Juventus player and he's doing really well there. I can't say anything about all the many things they say.

"I can only say that he is a Juventus player and we have to respect that.”
