Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes Alexis Sanchez declaration as Man Utd face paying £13m

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits the future of forward Alexis Sanchez is still up in the air.

Sanchez has endured a torrid time at Old Trafford and is being linked with a loan move to Serie A side Inter Milan who have agreed to pay half of his £500,000-a-week wages.

Earlier suggested that United would like to insert a 'non-negotiable' clause into the deal with Inter, which would see them sign the forward permanently for £20million next year.

However, there is debate about who will finance the final two years of the player's United contract from 2020 while United could have to fork out £13million from their own pockets to loan Sanchez out for this season.

When questioned about the player's future, Solskjaer stressed the undeniable talent that Sanchez possesses but conceded his situation remains unresolved.

He said: "Alexis is a quality player. We don't have loads of options. If there is an offer that's good enough for the club and him maybe he will go, but if not then he's still our player and he's a quality player.

"He's been training well and there's no doubt about his quality so let's see."

The 30-year-old was not in the squad for the match against Crystal Palace on Saturday and he faces a race against time to clinch the opportunity to revive his career elsewhere.

Inter Milan have already done business with United over the summer, splashing £73million to bring Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku to the San Siro.

They have not bulked at the size of Sanchez's wages and will be increasingly hopeful that they can get a deal over the line before the European transfer window closes.

Clubs have one week remaining to finalise their transfer dealings and both clubs will be looking to achieve a swift and amicable solution to the saga.
