Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lifts lid on Man Utd's plans for remainder of the transfer window

Manchester United are aiming to launch their first serious title tilt in years as they look to end the recent dominance of local rivals and 'noisy neighbours' Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola's side have won three of the last four Premier League's and have further strengthened their status as favourites for the 2021/22 title after securing the signature of former Aston Villa star and England international Jack Grealish.

However, United have already armed themselves with two big-name arrivals of their own in the form of ex- Borussia Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho and former Real Madrid defensive stalwart Raphael Varane.

The Red Devils have parted ways with £115m thus far this window, but boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to rule out the idea of bolstering his playing staff with further additions before the window closes.

The United manager told ESPN : "Anything from now is a bonus. I have to say that with the two signings, we’ve strengthened where we wanted. You never know in football. Anything can happen, ins + outs."

Sancho was the first of the two superstars to arrive, ending a long-running pursuit of the 21-year-old who has previously plied his trade in Manchester for rivals City in their academy set-up, but left due to a lack of opportunities when it came to first-team football.

Sancho expressed his gratitude to former side Dortmund upon his arrival, claiming: "I’ll always be grateful to Dortmund for giving me the opportunity to play first team football, although I always knew that I would return to England one day.

"The chance to join Manchester United is a dream come true and I just cannot wait to perform in the Premier League."

Solksjaer was overjoyed to finally tie Sancho down on a deal at Old Trafford, explaining: "Jadon epitomises the type of player I want to bring to the club, he is a forward player in the best traditions of Manchester United.

"He will form an integral part of my squad for years to come and we look forward to seeing him blossom."

Varane followed suit less than three weeks later, though he is yet to officially be unveiled as a United player due to visa complications, but Real Madrid have already bid farewell to the defender who is expected to be snapped donning the United shirt in the coming days.
