Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned his Manchester United players not to get carried away after their explosive start to the new season.
United beat Leeds 5-1 at a packed Old Trafford, to send out a message of intent to the rest of the Premier League, as they seek to win a first title since 2013.
But Solskjaer has warned his players against getting complacent after laying down a marker with their stunning start to the new campaign.
“It was a great start, first game of the season, and when you get off to a great start, it changes the mood or it sets the mood,” said Solskjaer.
“Our job now is to capitalise on it, get more energy, don't get complacent. Edinson [Cavani] has joined in, Rafael [Varane] has joined in, so we're getting fitter and fitter.
Paul Pogba provided four assists in United's win over Leeds, but the France midfielder. Out of contract next summer, has yet to commit to a new deal.
Asked what it will take for Pogga to sign a new deal, Solskjaer said: “That's negotiations with Paul's representatives and the club.
“For me, Paul and I work together every day here. We keep on trying to improve the team and to enjoy ourselves.
“When you win games, you enjoy yourselves more, and we've just got to make sure we don't make this one game and everyone flies off in terms of big headlines and the praise we get.
“It's about bringing more energy to the nexy one and being even better – one swallow doesn't make a summer.”
