Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issues Anthony Martial Manchester United injury update

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Anthony Martial failed a fitness test ahead of Manchester United's victory against Club Brugge in the Europa League on Thursday night.

United secured their passage to the last 16 of the tournament with an emphatic 5-0 win against the Belgian champions at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer was dealt a blow ahead of the match when French forward Martial was forced out of training with a thigh injury, but Odion Ighalo deputised well in his absence by netting his first goal for the club.

Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay and a brace from Fred contributed the rest of the goals as United secured a comfortable win and Solskjaer will be keen to see his side maintain their form against Everton this weekend.

United face a big test when they travel to Goodison Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon but Solskjaer was unable to confirm whether or not Martial will be back in contention for the match.

"I don't know, he went off training yesterday, just had treatment," Solskjaer said of Martial at his post-match press conference.

"He tried today, to be fair, he reported, had a fitness test this morning. It's not a hamstring, it's his thigh, in and around the knee, so I don't know."
