Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issues Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani injury updates

Anthony Martial is fit for the Manchester derby – but Edinson Cavani remains a doubt.

Manchester United duo Martial and Cavani missed their side's 3-2 defeat away to RB Leipzig in midweek, which saw them exit the Champions League.

But ahead of tomorrow's showdown against City at Old Trafford, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer revealed Martial will be involved, but a late decision will be taken on Cavani.

“Anthony will definitely be involved,” said Solskjaer.

“Edinson has been on the grass, but I'll make a decision later.

“Of course, we were disappointed [at exiting the Champions League]. That's natural, we really wanted to go through, but the reality is we didn't so we've got to move on.

“The Manchester derby is probably the best game you can ask for after such a disappointment, because it does stick in yours system.”

Solskjaer also backed David De Gea, after United legend Paul Scholes accused the goalkeeper of “bottling it” for Leipzig's third goal.

“David's a top goalkeeper and rightly on the lists of best goalkeepers in Europe,” said Solskjaer.

“He's handled criticism and setbacks before, he's a man we really rely on, hopefully he's not affected by criticism and I don't think he will be.

“Every goal a goalkeeper concedes you'll be disappointed with.”
