Ole Gunnar Solskjaer invites illustrious guest to Man Utd vs Liverpool

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has invited the King of Norway to Old Trafford to watch his side take on Liverpool on Sunday.

Manchester United are facing a huge game against their rivals and are set to be cheered on by an illustrious guest in their quest for three points.

According to Norwegian newspaper VG , King Harald, 82, will be at the game as a special guest of Solskjaer and will meet with the manager after the match.

The King is a big sports fan and commented on Solskjaer's appointment as permanent United manager last season during a state visit to Chile.

"It's impressive. Really. I hope with all my heart that he succeeds," he said.

But whilst he is backing Norwegian compatriot Solskjaer, King Harald has a liking for a rival Premier League club.

Speaking during a state visit to London back in 2005, he explained why Tottenham are his team of choice.

"I was here studying in the early 60's," he said.

"Then it was a football team that is currently in second place that was superbly the best. That team I support."

Solskjaer will be hoping his royal guest can provide some much-needed good fortune for his side.

They are huge underdogs against the table-topping Reds, who have got their season off to a perfect start.

The Red Devils sit 12th inthe table after their worst ever start to a Premier League season.

Solskjaer has come under-fire but executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward offered an impassioned defence of his manager this week and backed his long-term project.
