Solskjaer claims Van de Beek hasn't been frozen out
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek has not been frozen out, but does need to work on aspects of his all-round game.
The 24-year-old was an unused substitute during Wednesday’s Champions League win over Villarreal, and reacted by throwing down his training bib and tossing his chewing gum in the direction of United’s technical area.
Van de Beek’s opportunities at Old Trafford have been limited since he arrived from Ajax last summer, the Dutchman has started just four Premier League games and has been an unused substitute on 24 occasions.
"He knows he’s not frozen out," Solskjaer stressed. "This obsession about… It’s Man United and when a headline player is not playing for Man United it’s always going to make headlines.
"But then again I’ve got plenty who don’t play every week, so I don’t have any issues with Donny at all, he knows what he needs to work on.”

Everton team news and Rashford boost
Luke Shaw missed the midweek win over Villarreal due to illness but is fit to return to United's squad for Everton’s visit to Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.
Harry Maguire and Amad Diallo are not expected to return until after the international break.
However, Marcus Rashford has commenced contact training and could be available to face Leicester City in two weeks’ time.
The 23-year-old forward has been sidelined for almost three months after undergoing shoulder surgery in early August.

Solskjaer unhappy with fixture schedule
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is unhappy with having to play Everton in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, after his side’s midweek Champions League win over Villarreal.
For the second successive week, United occupy the 12.30pm slot on Saturday after playing a midweek match on a Wednesday evening.
"It's a very, very quick turnaround, a different turnaround to last year when we played Everton away and played Wednesday night and Saturday morning," said the United boss.
"Yeah, absolutely no explanation, well, it's TV. Absolutely no common sense at all. We had the same scenario last year when we were in Turkey, came back and played Everton. The players aren't gonna get that joy again, they had it last year as well."
