Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Man Utd will not be rushed into Jadon Sancho move

Ole Gunnar Solskajer insists Manchester United will not be rushed in their pursuit of top transfer target Jadon Sancho.

Borussia Dortmund want £100million for Sancho, while United feel £80m is a fair price for the England winger in a transfer market impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Dortmund have set United a deadline of next Monday to complete a deal for Sancho but, with the window open until October 5, Solskjaer said they will not be pushed into a quick agreement.

“This transfer window is a long one, every transfer takes its course,” said Solskjaer. “It is what it is.

“At the moment, I have no updates for you, If there’s any news we’ll update you.”

United are in talks with Dortmund over a deal for Sancho, although the clubs remain apart in terms of their valuation of the 20-year-old and how the deal will be structured.

Dortmund want £100m, in instalments of £70m, £20m and £10m, while United only want to go to £80m in total, and are hoping to tempt the German club by offering to pay that amount in full.

United are also in the market for a new centre-back to partner skipper Harry Maguire, but Solskjaer hinted they may ultimately end up not adding to their defence in this window.

“We're always looking to improve the team and squad, but I think we’ve been very solid at the back,” said Solskjaer.

“Sometimes you're exposed in behind, when you're pressing as high as we do.

“We've decided we want to be a high-pressing team when we can and, if you don’t take risks, you won’t improve.

“Once in a while there’s been some space found behind us, but I’m not concerned about it, no.”
