Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer agrees with Jose Mourinho 's assessment of the current Premier League season, labelling it "inconsistent" and "unpredictable".
Mourinho's Tottenham Hotspur side are currently top of the table on goal difference after beating Manchester City 2-0 but the Portuguese tactician has played down talk of a title challenge, citing the effects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking after United's 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, Solskjaer agreed with Mourinho, telling BT Sport: "The league this season is going to be inconsistent with ups and downs.
"It's unpredictable - we've seen some results today and it's not really settling.
"Like Jose said, one win moves you up the table, one defeat moves you closer to the bottom. It's very tight, it's very early on and points are more important than performances sometimes."
Despite earning their first league win at Old Trafford this season, Solskjaer was not happy with the overall performance, adding: "We have a tradition of making it hard for ourselves.
"When I was a player here Sir Alex [Ferguson] used to say that 'that's why I'm going to have heart trouble', but he's still healthy so that's fine.
"Towards the end we seemed edgy, because we could have seen the game off with a couple of good chances.
"Delighted with a clean sheet but we could have made it more comfortable. International breaks, they never help.
"All our prep was this morning, so it's not easy when you only have 20 minutes or half an hour to prepare for a game.
"Three points, home win, so we can stop talking about. But if we want to move up the table, we have to play better."
United are due to take on Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League on Tuesday and they will be looking to avenge their 2-1 loss to the Turkish side earlier this month.
