Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identifies Man Utd 'transfer alternative' to Erling Haaland

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly identified Wolves striker Raul Jimenez as a top transfer target this January after Manchester United missed out on Erling Haaland.

The Red Devils were hot favourites to land the Norwegian, but United were beaten to the punch by Borussia Dortmund, who signed the youngster for just £17million.

Manchester United are still in need of a striker after selling Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan in the summer and failing to replace the £75million Belgium international.

Marcus Rashford operates better out wide, while Mason Greenwood is only 18 and too inexperienced to lead the line by himself week-in, week-out.

According to Goal Mexico, Wolves star Jimenez has been identified as a possible target.

The publication adds that Manchester City are also keen on the Mexican 28-year-old, meaning United could find themselves in a transfer battle with their noisy neighbours.

Jimenez has represented Wolves 32 times in all competitions this season, netting 17 goals in the process.

In the month of November the forward played in five fixtures for Wolves, and got himself on the score sheet in every match.

As things stand the Mexican has eight Premier League goals for the season, which puts him four behind Rashford on 12.

He does however have six assists to his name, two more than Rashford.
