Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hits out at Robin van Persie again as war of words wades on

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reignited his war of words with Robin van Persie after the ex-Manchester United striker criticised his managerial style.

Van Persie accused the Red Devils boss of lacking passion following Manchester United's 2-0 defeat by Arsenal. Solskjaer responded angrily, saying the Dutchman had no right to criticise him in the way he did.

Manchester United drew 0-0 with Wolves in the FA Cup third round on Saturday afternoon, and Solkskjaer was once again asked to respond to Van Persie's comments.

Solskjaer told Viasport: "There are different ways to motivate and inspire players, and I do not always believe in scaring them to play better. After all, we are in 2020.

"I like my behaviour, my personality and my values. I stand by them.

"It also works closely with the players, the dialogue is good. There are many people who do not know how it is behind that door in the dressing room.

"Sometimes you are tough, sometimes you give players a pat on the shoulder."

When asked if he found the criticism frustrating, he added: "No. Ed, Joel [Glazer] and those I work with know how I am. Those who know me know how I am away from the cameras."

Van Persie was disappointed with the way Solskjaer smiled in his post-match interview following the defeat by Arsenal.

He claimed the Norwegian should have been angry with the performance and result.

Solskjaer responded at the time: "I don't know Robin and Robin doesn't know me.

"He probably doesn't have a right to criticise my management style and I won't change. That's definite. Robin, took my No.20 shirt and that's probably all he's going to take from me as well - because I'm not in medieval times."
