Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted he might look to use Scott McTominay in a more advanced role for Manchester United following his winner against West Ham in the FA Cup.
The Scotland international came off the bench to win the game for United on Tuesday night as he netted the only goal of the match in extra-time.
United had struggled for fluidity all night at Old Trafford but secured a 1-0 win when substitute McTominay smashed a low effort into the net with a penalty shoot-out looming.
The clean strike marked McTominay's seventh goal of the season as he scored for the third match in a row - and Solskjaer was delighted with the work from his midfielder.
"He's a clinical striker of the ball," Solskjaer told MUTV. "He used to be a striker, we know that, and he finishes with authority. He's like 'bang! finish', no safety - and that is something we have got to learn from."
McTominay came through the United academy as a striker and Solskjaer said he could use the Scotland international is a more attacking role in the future.
He added: "Of course it is (a healthy habit) from a defensive midfielder. We will have to unleash him and release him forward because he is a goal threat in the box and he's got a good strike in him."
