Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints at Mason Greenwood role in Man Utd vs Arsenal

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted he will start Mason Greenwood against Arsenal - after being left with no strikers.

The Red Devils are in the midst of another injury crisis ahead of the visit of the Gunners on Monday night.

Both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are set to miss the meeting with Unai Emery’s men, with Paul Pogba also doubtful.

That leaves 17-year-old sensation Greenwood as the last man standing, after Solskjaer’s summer decision to let both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez depart.

Greenwood has stepped up to the plate in recent matches, netting United’s only goals in their last three games.

And Solskjaer says he has no qualms about facing Arsenal with Greenwood - whole he rates as the best finisher at the club - at the head of his attack.

“He’s proven when he’s been on the pitch, Astana and Rochdale, when you get him in the box he’s dangerous,” said the United boss.

"What’s pleased me about him is he doesn’t turn down chances to finish when you’re not 18 yet and you keep trusting yourself.

"So I’m not worried about him at all but we’ve managed him, can’t just throw him in the deep end all the time he’s proved in those games he’s ready for it, Premier League. I’ll have the weekend to think about it."

Solskjaer admits he expects to be without French forward Martial for a couple more weeks, admitting on Friday morning: "I don’t think we’ll see Anthony before the international break."

And speaking at his press conference on Friday morning, Solskjaer added on Rashford: “I wouldn't put my life on it but that's part of this game, you work with what you have and we're looking forward to this game.”
