Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made thoughts clear on Cristiano Ronaldo's Man City 'agreement'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already given his verdict on players who join Manchester City having played for Manchester United - and it spells bad news for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Solskjaer spent four years alongside Ronaldo at Old Trafford during his playing days and helped the young Portuguese prospect blossom into one of the best players in the world.

Fast forward from the mid-2000s to the present day and Solskjaer is in charge at United and Ronaldo has reportedly agreed to join cross-town rivals City.

The 36-year-old would send shockwaves through the footballing world if he completes a transfer to the Etihad - and he would certainly go down in Solskjaer's estimation.

That is because the Norwegian previously delivered a withering verdict on players who pull on a City jersey having been a Red Devil.

Speaking back in April, Solskjaer said: "When I played for Man United, if a rival club tried to sign me, and I had gone, well where’s the loyalty?

"Loyalty is one of the values I really, really put highly. I wouldn’t expect any player who has played for a club for 10 years to want to go to their local rivals.

"It’s not for me. I know we’re professionals, but when you play for Man Utd you don’t go to Man City. We’ve had examples of that and I didn’t really agree with it.

"I won’t name names but you all know who I mean. Enough said."

Solskjaer was responding to a question on United potentially making a move for Sergio Aguero, who was preparing to leave City after a goal-laden 10-year stint.

Would Cristiano Ronaldo be betraying Manchester United if he joined Manchester City? Comment below.

He clearly feels it is unthinkable to move from United to City or vice versa - and he will be distraught to hear Ronaldo does not share his opinion.

Solskjaer's angst if Ronaldo joins City will be worsened as he played a key role in the Juventus star's development as a striker coach at United during the 2007/08 season.

"I went into coaching as well, so I did try to teach them a few things," said Solskjaer earlier this summer. "I think I’ve got more knowledge than most of making the most out of your opportunities.

"I was never the quickest, never the strongest or tallest, so I had to be clever.

"Every time when Wayne (Rooney) or Cristiano shifted the ball to the side and put it back through the legs of the defender, and the goalkeeper’s just stranded, I used to nudge my kids and say, 'Your dad’s taught them that!'

"Apart from that, I think you’ve got to ask the players. I think I led more by example. I wasn’t the vocal one who went round and tried to tell anyone, I wanted to show with my attitude and what I did."
