Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his say on Leeds United and confirms big Manchester United names to play

Romelu Lukaku and David De Gea are expected to make their Manchester United pre-season debuts when they face Leeds United on Wednesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer faced the media at WACA Ground in Perth on Tuesday morning and gave an update on which way he may be going for the clash with Marcelo Bielsa.

The Whites, who have only brought 16 players themselves, will face the Red Devils for the first time in nearly eight years when they kick-off at Optus Stadium.

De Gea, Lukaku, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof are yet to feature for the Manchester club on this tour, but look set to play some part against the Whites.

“All of them were training yesterday,” said Solskjaer.

“No one missed training, so 24 [outfield] players plus the ‘keepers. Granty (Lee Grant) is still not fit and maybe we won’t risk Luke [Shaw], we’re not sure, but Rom, Vic and Eric who missed the first game [with niggles], they are fit.”

When asked whether De Gea will face Leeds and what the latest news is on his contract, the Old Trafford boss replied: “Yeah, he’ll play tomorrow and hopefully we can agree [a new deal] with David, as I’ve said a few times.

“That’ll be up to David and the club to announce if that happens, if and when.”

Solskjaer is anticipating another good workout for his side at Optus Stadium, against the club's historic rivals who just missed out on promotion to the top flight last season.

“If we see Leeds back up in the Premier League one day I’m sure you will see the size of the game,” he said.

“It’s a great occasion for both sets of supporters and the players as well, because there were some fantastic games [in the past].”
