Ole Gunnar Solskjaer heaped praise on Edinson Cavani for his match-winning performance in Manchester United's 3-2 victory at Southampton.
The Reds Devils recovered from 2-0 down at half-time to win at St Mary's thanks to Bruno Fernandes' strke and a double by Cavani.
The Uruguayan was only substituted on at half-time and also picked up the assist for Fernandes' goal during a stunning 45-minute showing.
Solskjaer was keen to highlight the "meticulous" traits which are the bedrock of 33-year-old Cavani's continued success at the pinnacle of the European game.
"Great impact of course," the United boss told BBC Sport . "He is a number nine who wants to be in between the posts, he is always on the move.
"He wants to get in front of you and I am very pleased with him.
"On the training pitch, in the dressing room and during meal times, how meticulous he is... He knows what he wants to eat, how much he wants to recover - everything!
"It was top movement and his timing is fantastic. His hunger to get on the end of things is the key for a centre-forward.

"Sometimes it hurts and sometimes it doesn't but to score you have to be in there."
It took Cavani some time before he was ready to come on at half-time, as the former Napoli and PSG man decided he needed to change his boots.
“He probably wasn’t able to warm up on the pitch and then he realised he needed bigger studs," Solskjaer explained.
"He has to be ready!"
Solskjaer also provided an update on goalkeeper David de Gea, who was taken off at half-time with a suspected knee injury.
The Norwegian said: "Hopefully it's not too bad.
"It's a knock on his knee - just above his knee - so we will see how it is."
