Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives verdict on Manchester United youngster Will Fish

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has labelled Will Fish as a 'composed centre-back with physical stature' following his call up the Manchester United first team.

United face Granada in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday but will be without a number of players, particularly in defence.

Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are suspended while Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial and Phil Jones are unavailable, with Marcus Rashford also a doubt.

With United short on defenders for the match, teenage centre-back Fish has been called up to the seniors and been added to United's 'B list' squad.

The 18-year-old has risen through the youth ranks at Old Trafford, consistently playing above his age level, and has been a regular for Neil Wood's Under-23s this season, often captaining the team.

Ahead of the match, Solskjaer has praised Fish's qualities.

“He’s a very good talent," he told United's official site. "A composed centre-back with physical stature. He’s one we believe in.

"Of course, we’ve lost a few defenders so to have Will on the bench is a good experience for him and he’s there if he’s needed and he’s ready.”

United have a 2-0 advantage going into the second leg after winning in Spain last week, but Solskjaer wants another victory in the return fixture.

“We know the foundation is there. We’ve looked at the game and looked at the video in terms of what we need to improve on," he added.

"That’s the point here that we go from game to game trying to improve. It’s not just about results, it’s the way we get those results as well which will lead to us, in the end, to being a better team.

"We go into this game wanting to win it. We’re at home and we want to build on this momentum that we’ve got now.”
