Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives verdict on Glazer ownership of Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer maintains he has a good working with the Glazer family despite their conduct over Manchester United's involvement in the Super League.

Quotes from Joel Glazer accompanied the statement confirming plans for the Super League on Sunday night and the Uefa president Alexander Ceferin skewered the United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward for his apparent duplicity over backing the Champions League revamp, only to support the Super League.

Woodward fell on his sword and tendered his resignation on Tuesday while Glazer belatedly issued a grovelling apology in his first communiqué to United fans since his introductory interview when the Glazer family took ownership of the club in May 2005.

The Glazers are under mounting pressure to sell, with protests planned before the visit of Liverpool outside Old Trafford next Sunday. The Red Knights consortium, which attempted to topple the Glazers in 2010, has also resurfaced with the backing of former Goldman Sachs asset manager and lifelong United fan Jim O'Neill.

When asked whether he tought Joel Glazer, who has not attended a United match in two years and not put a single cent into the club, genuinely cared about United, Solskjaer replied: "I've said what I said about the Super League and I'm so happy all the owners and all the clubs involved agreed this was a mistake.

"I've always had a good working relationship with the club and the owners. Of course, behind the walls of the building, we speak, they listen to my opinions and we are working to move Man United forward.

"It's important we all want to be better and improve and that's where my job is to improve the performance of the team and this weekend is a good chance and it's a big game in our history, we know that."
