Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives verdict on Diogo Dalot's Man Utd future

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has delivered his verdict on Diogo Dalot's chances of continuing his career at Old Trafford.

Dalot is currently out on loan at AC Milan, and impressed against his parent club in the Europa League last week.

The Portuguese full-back has been a key figure in Stefano Piloli's side this season, having been allowed to leave on loan last summer.

He can play on either flank, and has played 22 times across all competitions for the Serie A contenders.

Dalot is under contract at Old Trafford until 2023, and Milan don't have the option to buy him permanently this summer.

And Solskjaer seems to believe he has a big future ahead of him at the club.

Speaking at his press conference on Wednesday, the United boss explained how happy he was to see Dalot thriving while out on loan.

“The plan was always for Diogo this season, or the main thing for Diogo, was to be fit,” said Solskjaer.

“He never managed to be fit for a long spell when he was here [and was] unfortunate with injuries.

“Now he's kept fit all season; he's been available for them.

"He's playing at a big club, big expectations, [with the] great history of the club, so it's been a good year for him.

"So, of course, I've been very pleased with his development this season.

"He's our player and we're looking forward to having him back.”

United reportedly refused to include a purchase option in their agreement with Milan because they believe the youngster will be a top full-back in years to come.
