Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explains why summer has been kind to Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said this summer has been kind to Manchester United because barely any of his players have had a major international tournament to contend with.

Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard were both involved in the Nations League Finals for England but their participation in that tournament ended on June 9.

Alexis Sanchez and Dean Henderson are the only United players yet to sign off for the summer. Sanchez is in action for Chile at the Copa America while Henderson is at the under-21 European Championship with England.

Brazilians Andreas Pereira and Fred, as well as Argentineans Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo, were not included in their countries' Copa America squads.

"Summer's been kind to us in that respect. We'll travel to Perth with the full first-team squad," Solskjaer said. "Everyone should be available to be picked. Hopefully they'll be fit when they come back, so the first team is going to be there."

United open their pre-season tour of Australasia against Perth Glory on July 13 before a game against Leeds United four days later.

"To play against the champions of the A-League, Perth Glory is always a good reference point on how the leagues compare," Solskjaer added. "And games against Leeds United have always been huge for us. I've played in quite a few for us and that's going to be some rivalry both on and off the pitch."

United's final three matches of the tour are against Inter Milan, Tottenham and AC Milan.
