Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has laughed off suggestions that he spoke to Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake about a move to Old Trafford this summer.
The former Chelsea man has been linked with a host of clubs, including a return to Stamford Bridge and a move to United, after catching the eye in recent seasons on the South Coast.
With Bournemouth languishing at the wrong end of the standings, Ake's future has continued to come under speculation and fans believed they had spotted something at the weekend.
In footage aired by broadcasters, Solskjaer approached Ake after United's 5-2 thrashing of Bournemouth on Saturday and briefly spoke with the Netherlands international.
Although the BT Sport caption read: 'You need a bit of luck from your centre-backs. Just keep going', many felt Solskjaer actually said: 'We need a left-footed centre-back, so keep going.'
However, the Norwegian boss has now addressed the encounter, stating: "I've got seven centre-backs," Solskjaer laughed. "I don't know where that's come from. We're fine."
Ake left Chelsea to join Bournemouth permanently for £20m in June 2017 following a successful loan spell with the club and the Cherries can expect a significant profit if they do sell this summer.
