Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that Harry Maguire and Fred have no issues with each other despite their X-rated row during Manchester United's 0-0 draw with Leeds on Sunday.
The disappointing stalemate at Elland Road effectively extinguished any slim chance remaining of United catching their rivals Manchester City, and Solskjaer's side remain in second place and ten points behind their neighbours with just five games of the season to play.
At one point in the second half Maguire appeared to be unhappy with Fred's positioning, and the two could be seen exchanging heated words, with the centre-back appearing to call the Brazilian midfielder a "f***ing idiot".
But speaking after the full-time whistle Solskjaer brushed off the argument, and said it was simply an example of the team looking to get the best out of each other.
“We have got a group that demands a lot of each other," Solskjaer said. "The standard is high, both on training and in a game, it is not just about being a nice guy.
“We demand maximum effort. I was really proud of how strong we looked. I never thought they threatened our goal in the second half but we missed a little bit of spark to win the game.”
Despite the result Solskjaer appeared satisfied with his side's performance, and added: “Compared to last season we have won more tight games, we have won more towards the end of games.
“I think our fitness has been really good and second half we looked strong, athletes, I really liked what I saw.
“Today we just didn’t have the moment, didn’t take them when we had them. A draw is disappointing because we wanted to put pressure on City.”
United will now turn their attentions back to the Europa League when they take on Roma in the first leg of their semi-final clash on Thursday.
