Manchester United have been working for a long time on this summer's transfer targets, according to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer .
United remain in the race for a top four finish in the Premier League and Champions League qualification could be vital for their business at the end of the season.
Solskjaer is eager to sign young, homegrown talent with potential as continues his rebuild at Old Trafford and the MEN understands United are targeting Jack Grealish , James Maddison and Jadon Sancho this summer.
The United boss outlined the club's systematic transfer process during an interview with Norwegian outlet TV2 .
"Player signings are very systematic," Solskjaer said. "It takes many hours, and there are many people and many hours of player analysis that underlie a list that is presented to me.
"And then I follow football myself, so I have wishes myself.
"But I have an impression on what kind of football player I want and what kind of person I want to join the club."
Solskjaer confirmed that the club are aiming to finalise transfers that have been worked on over the course of multiple windows.
He admitted United would be ready to act if a player became available at short notice.
"We have been working for a long time already to analyse our team and what we can get in the market," he added.
"We are trying to work out a couple of transfer windows ahead. We can't just react in May with 'now we have to do something'.
"But then, all of a sudden, players can get available to sign, so you still have to be aware that something can happen quickly."
