Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explains how Manchester United will prepare for Barcelona fixture

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United will need to work on 'many things' ahead of facing Barcelona in the Champions League next week.

United welcome the Spanish champions to Old Trafford on Wednesday night in need of a positive result in the first-leg of their quarter-final tie.

Solskjaer will be hoping his side can pull off another remarkable performance similar to the the one which saw them knockout Paris Saint-Germain in the earlier rounds, however their preparation was hampered by defeat against Wolves on Tuesday night.

United lost their third match in the last four games with a 2-1 defeat at Molineux, and Solskjaer knows a much improved performance will be needed next week.

The Norwegian coach says his team will now have a couple of days to reflect on their recent Premier League defeat before attention turns to their massive European encounter in a weeks' time.

"Oh, many, many things we have to improve, of course, because they are a top, top side," Solskjaer said.

"But we'll use one or two days now to analyse and recover. And we'll prepare for Barcelona, which will be a fantastic challenge for the club and for the team."

United will go into the first-leg against Barcelona on the back of their worst run of form under Solskjaer, however speaking after the defeat to Wolves the manager insisted he was pleased with their recent performances.

The Norwegian continued: "You can't control the result. We can control what we do on the pitch, performance wise, and we've played well enough tonight (Tuesday). We created enough chances to win the game.

"So, I don' think there's any kick-back or re-setting to be fair, I was very pleased with the amount of chances, and the intent with the way we started the game. You cannot stop players from playing, or trying, and if there's a mistake to be done then that happens, and that's football."
