Bruno Fernandes was Manchester United's penalty hero as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side edged their way into the Europa League semi-finals.
United were awarded a penalty against Copenhagen early in the first period of extra-time, when forward Anthony Martial was brought down.
Fernandes dispatched the penalty, United's 21st of the season, to earn a 1-0 win and send Solskjaer's side through to Sunday's semi-final against Wolves or Sevilla.
Solskjaer paid tribute to Fernandes, who has not missed a penalty for four-and-a-half years - having scored 21 in a row for United and former club Sporting Lisbon.
“He knows that keepers will wait for him to do the jump,” said Solskjaer.
“He practices both of them and he practices both sides so he’s got them sorted.
“He’s better than I was, anyway!”
United have now reached three semi-finals this season and Solskjaer praised the resilience of his players for coming through such a hard-fought game.
“It’s the third time this season and we’ve been the semis in every competition we’ve been in,” said Solskjaer.
“I’m delighted to go through. I thought we deserved to win tonight. Their keeper was fantastic. He was unbelievable.
“We hit the post a few times, there were a couple of offside decisions against us with VAR.
“It could have been one of those nights that you end up with a penalty shootout because they created opportunities and we had to defend well. They made it hard for us.”
Looking ahead to United's potential semi-final opponents, Solskjaer said: “They are two good teams. We know everything about Wolves.
“I was in the last 16 or last eight with Molde against Sevilla, so I’ve got something to get back at them, so I don’t mind.”
Juan Mata, whose introduction in extra-time helped United over the line, said: "The team is quite tired physically.
“At this stage of this season it's important to win games like this and we go through.
"We will stay in Germany for quite some time and hopefully we can win."
