Ole Gunnar Solskjaer drops fresh Manchester United team news hint vs Chelsea

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has guaranteed that Manchester United will not play the same team as the one that beat Norwich, against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup tonight.

The United boss has been keen to hand youngsters a chance in the cup competitions this season and he's already hinted that James Garner and Brandon Williams will feature at Stamford Bridge.

And Solskjaer, while reflecting on the upturn in his side's fortunes — as they secured away wins at Partizan Belgrade and Norwich in the past week — accepted that United's hectic schedule at the moment means more changes can be expected against Chelsea.

"We've got four games away from home in 11 days and we can't play the same team every game," Solskjaer told MUTV before the trip to west London. "So there will be changes for this one as well.

"A week is a long time in football and [the improved form] gives the boys loads of confidence and loads more belief in what they're doing. Because they've been doing lots of good things, but we haven't been getting the results."

Solskjaer will be keen to see United produce a repeat of the 4-0 victory they secured over Chelsea on the opening day of the season.

That result has since been exposed as something of an anomaly, with Frank Lampard's side much improved since then and United struggling until recently.

Solskjaer added: "They had a good performance against us, they put us on the back foot and I think we can all agree on that at times we had to defend really well to keep them out.

"They hit the post with Tammy Abraham, they had a couple of other chances but we were efficient and we played fantastic counter-attacking football, which we'll have to do again, against probably a younger Chelsea side — and [with] a younger United side.

"We know we can go to any place and give any team a good game and sometimes it suits us to play against teams that might attack us more than others.

"I'm sure it's going to be a good cup tie."
