Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn't fear sack ahead of Jose Mourinho's return to Man Utd

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims he does not fear about the sack – despite the return of Jose Mourinho to Manchester United on Wednesday.

Mourinho, sacked by United a year ago and replaced by Solskjaer, returns to Old Trafford with new club Tottenham , having won his first three games in charge.

While Spurs are fifth, United are down in ninth place, just six points off the relegation place, just six points off the relegation zone, with no wins in their last three games in all competitions.

Despite that miserable run and with three Premier League bosses - Mauricio Pochettino, Unai Emery and Quique Sanchez Flores – having already been sacked, Solskjaer claimed he is not worried.

“No, it doesn't make me more concerned,” said Solskjaer. “I'm just focusing on my job and that's doing as well as I can, look forward to the next game, look long term and plan things with board.

“I'm good, absolutely no problem, sometimes you laugh when you read stories about what I've said, but at least I know the sources are not sources and are just made up, blatant lies.

“It's that time of year, it's never nice to see your colleagues lose their job in a very short space of time.

"With some of them, you can talk about VAR all day long. You don't know the reasons, but one result, Southampton against Watford , with the handball, and we're talking about something completely different. Sometimes you have luck, sometimes you don't.

“We've had too many draws for my liking, some defeats of course, but draws we should have turned into wins and football is a results business.

“I'm not happy, I know we can do better and are working hard. The work is always geared on us improving but we're not getting all the results we've deserved.”

Solskajer said he is in constant communication with United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and claimed the pair are still focused on a long-term stratgey to take the club forward.

“We speak all the time so it's not like it's a knee-jerk situation, suddenly now we need to talk, we speak a few times every week,” said Solskjaer.

“So it's continually progressing, the plans we've put in place, the rebuilding we know we started.

“We made some decisions that were necessary and now, of course we're not happy where we are, but will continue working.

“Three days or four days are not going to change a whole lot, but these two games are great chances to improve things and continue in the vein against some of the better sides.

“We've had some good results against good teams and we've got a plan for Wednesday night.”
