Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delivers Anthony Martial update ahead of Tottenham clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said he is hopeful that Anthony Martial will be fit to face Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.

However, the Frenchman is set to miss Manchester United's match with LASK in the Europa League last 16 tomorrow.

Martial picked up an injury during Manchester United's 2-0 win against rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday, with the forward ending up in the net after colliding with the post when challenging City goalkeeper Ederson.

Martial was substituted 12 minutes from time in the derby clash, with pictures emerging after the game of his injury.

And Solskjaer has admitted that it is an injury that will rule him out of the game in Austria, although he has not completely ruled out the possibility of him facing Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the United boss said: "Anthony hurt himself when he slid into the post, so he is not ready for this game.

"Hopefully for Sunday, but not sure."

Martial scored in the 2-0 win against City on Sunday, with his strike being his 16th of the campaign in all competitions for United.

The Frenchman has been a key man for Solskjaer this season, featuring 34 times in all competitions.
