Ole Gunnar Solskjaer counting the cost of fresh Man Utd injuries in Everton win

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saw his Manchester United side get back to winning ways at Everton but the victory may come at a cost.

A brace from Bruno Fernandes and a first goal from Edinson Cavani ensured the Red Devils responded to going 1-0 down at Goodison Park.

Solskjaer though, who arrived on Merseyside with a relatively healthy squad, may now be without Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford.

The left-back has a hamstring issue and was replaced by Axel Tuanzebe in the second-half.

Rashford completed the 90 minutes but may have a problem, although Solskjaer didn't expand on what it could be.

"These boys deserve better," said the United boss. "Luke Shaw has got injured because of it.

"It's a hamstring which might be a long one and Marcus Rashford might be struggling."

Rashford has been a leading light for United this term and his absence would be a blow.

Meanwhile summer signing Alex Telles, who is an option to replace Shaw, is currently recovering from coronavirus which may add to the selection woes.

After the contest Solskjaer took issue with United's lack of rest time having played in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils had to travel back from Turkey before their lunchtime kick-off which the Norwegian believes has played a part in Shaw's injury.

“Authorities set us up to fail, they’ve tried," he claimed.

“How can they set us up, after a Champions League game, Wednesday night, in Turkey, and set us a Saturday, 12:30 kick-off?

“You’ve got Liverpool and City, fair play, they play against each other, they played on Tuesday and play Sunday.

“Who is responsible? We’ve had enough of that, I’ve had enough.

“Players, this season, I said it yesterday, we have to understand how these players, in these times, the pandemic, how mentally draining that is, physically draining this is, and you set them up like this?

“We’ve lost Luke Shaw because of that.”
