Ole Gunnar Solskjaer convinced Aaron Wan-Bissaka will live up to £50m price tag after completing Man Utd move

Ole Gunnar Solskjær is convinced Aaron Wan-Bissaka will live up to his price tag after the right-back completed a £50m move to Manchester United.

The England Under-21 international has become the most expensive defender in United’s history - dwarfing the £31m they paid for Victor Lindelof in 2017.

Wan-Bissaka will cost an initial £45m up-front, with £5m in add-ons.

And Solskjær is convinced he will be worth every penny.

The United manager said: "Aaron is one of the best upcoming defenders in the Premier League. He has the right work ethic, talent and mentality to play for Manchester United and he fits exactly the type of player that we are looking to bring into the squad to help us improve and push on further.

“Aaron is a young, hungry player and eager to learn and that’s important at his age. I am delighted he has signed with us and we look forward to continuing his tremendous development so far."

Wan-Bissaka successfully completed a medical at United’s Carrington training base on Thursday after travelling up to Manchester on Wednesday.

He has signed a five-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months.

A delay in United’s announcement was due to Palace insisting on a 10 percent sell-on clause if he is sold for more than £50m.

The 21-year-old said: "It’s an unbelievable feeling and an honour to call myself a Manchester United player and something I know that only a small number of players have the privilege to say.

“I can’t wait to get going and integrated into the squad. I will have a short break now after the European Championships but I’m looking forward to starting training with the manager and my new teammates on the pre-season tour.”
