Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues Man Utd shake-up with two new backroom appointments

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is continuing to shake up his backroom staff, and has confirmed two new appointments.

Solskjaer is looking to make his mark at Old Trafford and has set about changing the culture of a club that has stagnated, finishing sixth last term.

United have spent £68million on Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, but Solskjaer is also making moves behind the scenes.

One of those has been to appoint his former teammate, Michael Clegg, as the club's new first-team strength and power coach.

Clegg made 16 appearances for United between 1996 and 2001 and played for England Under-21s, before going on to hold a similar role with Sunderland following his retirement.

Clegg wrote on Twitter : "It's an honour to be back at the club I love and one of the best clubs in the world.

"It's certainly the job of my dreams."

United have also confirmed the appointment of Ed Leng as the club's new first-team lead sports scientist.

They are just the latest changes on the club's coaching and medical staff, with Richard Hartis having also been re-appointed as senior goalkeeping coach last month.

In on-field affairs, United tied down both Andreas Pereira and Axel Tuanzebe to long-term deals on Friday.

And Solskjaer declared that while he is happy with the club's business so far, he is still looking for more.

"We are quite calm," he told MUTV. "We have been good in the market so far and we’re still working on a case or two.

“I have been in touch with Joel [Glazer, chairman], Ed [Woodward, executive vice-chairman] and the recruitment department over the summer. I’ve got to say it’s been very good so far.

“I’ve got the backing and we’ve got the people in we wanted to, for now, and there will probably be some more business being done.”
