Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms Fernando Pellistri set for first Man Utd appearance

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Facundo Pellistri will get a run out for their under-23s team this evening against Everton.

Pellistri joined United on deadline day from Uruguayan club Penarol and has been training with the first-team.

He was an unused substitute in the win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday and in a bid to get him some match fitness he's set to line-up for United when Everton visit Leigh Sports Village.

Pellistri will be joined by defenders Marcos Rojo and Brandon Williams, who are also yet to play for the senior team this season.

“It is a different bubble so, with the current regulations, they can’t go on the same coach, they can’t be in the same dressing room, with all the testing and things,” Solskjaer told MUTV.

“That’s complicated things a little bit but, then again, if we take precautions and they travel by themselves and if they’re not in the dressing room or in the meeting, which isn’t great for a coach not to have his whole team.

“But tonight we’ll have a few [playing]. Facundo will play tonight to get his first taste of English football, Marcos Rojo will play because he needs to build up his fitness and Brandon’s going to play. He needs minutes as well.

"He’s a played a little bit this season and for the Under-21s for England and for us, but just needs to keep that match fitness then we know they’re ready for next week.”

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani are all in contention to feature for the first-team against Chelsea for the first-team.

“I hope and expect all three of them to be available for selection," he added.

"We’ve got a training session this morning, but they’ve got a chance, all of them. Edinson, he wants to tick all the boxes that he’s gone through in his programme and be ready to make an impact.

"I think his last preparation will be today and then we’ll have a discussion with him. It seemed positive yesterday for Mason and Harry, so hopefully.”
