Manchester United hero Andy Cole has defended Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and hit out at criticism of the Old Trafford manager.
United are in a dismal run of form stretching back to September.
They have lost home games to arch-rivals Liverpool and Manchester City by an aggregate scoreline of 7-0 and speculation continues to swirl about Solskjaer 's future.
Brendan Rodgers, Zinedine Zidane, Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag continue to be touted as potential replacements for Solskjaer in the likely event that the Norwegian is sacked.
Cole, who played with Solskjaer during his time with United from 1995 to 2001, hit out at his old team-mate's critics and suggested that the problem at Old Trafford cannot be solved by sacking another manager.
United have appointed four managers including Solskjaer since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 after 26 trophy-laden years in Manchester.
"All the managers they have gone before, they did a good job as well," Cole told Sky Sports.
"Unfortunately they have not been able to get Man United back to where they were and I think, sometimes, we are very disrespectful to the other teams that have moved forward, it's that simple.
"The flak that Ole gets, I will be brutally honest, it disappoints me.
"I don't think any manager should take that flak, whether it's at Man Utd or a non-league manager.
"They are trying to work to the best of their ability, he is trying like everyone else has done before him.
"Some of the comments that people are coming out with, people have turned around saying 'he's your ex-teammate'.
"If he's my ex-teammate or not, if it was someone I didn't know I wouldn't like people to be talking about them the way they are.
"But here I don't like it because when I played with Ole I got on very well with him.
"So to see him in this position now and all the flak he is taking, it doesn't sit well with me.
"We all want Man United to be back where they were but that takes time.
"The previous managers that have had the job have found themselves in the same position.
"The stick that Ole takes now, I don't think it is nice."
