Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims Dean Henderson will become Manchester United number one

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted that Dean Henderson will become Manchester United and England number one in the future.

Henderson has spent the last two seasons on loan at Sheffield United, earning promotion to the Premier League before impressing in his debut top-flight campaign, helping lift the Blades into contention for a European finish.

The 23-year-old has spoken about his desire to oust David de Gea from the between the sticks at Old Trafford and his desire to be his countries first-choice goalkeeper.

Sheffield United are hopeful of luring Henderson back for a third season at Bramall Lane, with Manchester United already boasting de Gea and Sergio Romero in their ranks.

De Gea signed a four-year £200,000-a-week contract earlier this season that will keep him at United until 2023, with the option of an extra year.

Despite the Spaniard's new deal, Solskjaer has admitted that Henderson will become Manchester United and England number one in his career.

“Dean has made some great choices over the years and has developed fantastically,” Solskjaer said.

“We’re looking at that in terms of where he’s going to be next season, but as yet that has not been decided.

“This season has proved a great experience for him, he’s done himself some favours with his performances and proved he will be England’s No.1 and Man United’s No.1 at some point.”
