It's not been rare for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be called 'too nice' across his managerial reign at Manchester United.
The Norwegian was appointed as Jose Mourinho's replacement in December 2019 and, although Solskjaer might not provide theatrical moments in press conferences like his predecessor did, he's done his talking with his side's strong, consistent results on the pitch.
Solskjaer is known to be a fantastic man-manager which perhaps also adds substance to that nice guy reputation, but it's clear that United's players have responded well to his approach, especially when considering Mourinho's broken relationships at the club.
Paul Pogba's and Luke Shaw's respective revivals pay tribute to Solskjaer's man-management methods and both players have publicly admitted their admiration for their boss, which isn't always normal in any walk of life, especially in the ruthless business of football.
However, while Solskjaer has been making moves in the transfer market as Euro 2020 played out - namely making significant progress in the Jadon Sancho transfer saga - there are multiple potential sales at United that he needs push through this summer.
The MEN revealed last month that Jesse Lingard is not expected to hold talks on his United future until he returns for pre-season training this month, which means uncertainty still surrounds the playmaker after his successful and impressive West Ham loan.
It's not hyperbole to suggest Lingard was one of the world's most in-form players across the second half of the season, as he went from strength to strength and proved he can still operate at an elite level when handed the opportunity by David Moyes.
Opportunity is the key word, though, because regardless of Lingard's impressive contribution at West Ham, it seems incredibly unlikely he would ever dislodge Bruno Fernandes in Solskjaer's starting XI and he's made it clear he wants first-team football next term.
Despite that, reports have emerged claiming that United are close to offering Lingard a new contract at Old Trafford, which if true, seems like a genuinely nonsensical decision and one reminiscent of poor transfer calls at the club of the years gone by.
While Solskjaer's players will often see his ruthless side privately in the dressing room, it's time for the United boss to show supporters there's no room for sentiment because now is the time to cash in on Lingard, which could add important funds to the transfer kitty.
If receiving a decent fee for Lingard could help sign Raphael Varane or Eduardo Camavinga, it's surely a simple decision to make.
